- CHOICE OF 32 OR 64 BIT OPERATING SYSTEMS
The Station will accommodate 32 or 64 bit operating
systems. By switch selecting the Operating System (hard drive) of your choice prior
to boot the Station will function as a Server, Workstation or Stand-alone PC.
Typical operating systems include Windows 98, ME, NT Server and Workstation 4.0, 2K Pro,
Server 2003, XP Home and Pro (32 and 64 bit), Vista, and Linux.
NOTE:
The ability to load the above Operating Systems will depend on the motherboard, processor
and memory selected for installation in the Test and Training Station.
The station motherboard tray will accommodate micro-ATX or ATX form factor motherboards.
An EATX motherboard tray is available on request.
|
- BUILT-IN EXPANSION CAPABILITY
The Test and Training Station is equipped with 3 drive
bays which will accommodate a total of ten 5.25" devices and nine hard drives to
accommodate future expansion and/or custom applications.
|
- TESTING OF PLUG-IN CARDS
Quickly insert plug-in cards such as modems,
video, sound and network cards into a slot on the built-in PTF motherboard. Install
drivers using the built-in PTF drives and test the card in a known good
environment (the Station). Diagnostics are provided to assist the
technician
|
- TESTING OF DRIVES
The Station provides for rapid connection of
IDE or SATA Hard Drives and Optical Drives to the built-in PTF motherboard for
testing. Diagnostics are provided to assist the technician or instructor as he tests
the drive.
|
- TESTING OF PERIPHERALS
After selecting the operating system of your
choice, connect a scanner, printer, or other peripheral to the appropriate port on the
built-in PTF motherboard and you are ready to load drivers using the PTF drives.

- HARDWARE DIAGNOSTICS - The Motherboard Test Card
The diagnostic features of the motherboard
test card can greatly assist the technician/instructor during the analysis of both
failures related to components mounted on a motherboard and components connected to a
motherboard. The codes will identify problems associated with the processor, memory,
keyboard and CMOS, to mention just a few. When codes representing problems in areas
such as these are present, the technician/instructor usually can locate and easily replace
the faulty component to accomplish the repair. Also, many of the BIOS POST codes
identify problems with components which cannot be repaired/replaced, indicating that the
motherboard itself must be replaced. In addition to
the POST code display, the test card is equipped with LEDs which indicate that required
operating voltages are present ON THE MOTHERBOARD and whether or not critical motherboard
circuits are functional.
The Test Card comes with a detailed POST Code Manual which
defines POST Codes for all the major BIOS Manufacturers.

- SOFTWARE DIAGNOSTICS
In order to provide a comprehensive set of
software diagnostics which will assist a technician/instructor in the troubleshooting of
both legacy and state-of-the-art systems, YavaCo Technologies is including 2 software
diagnostics packages with all versions of our Test and Training Stations:
Check-It PE runs totally independent of the Operating
System that is installed on the system being tested. This means that software is
completely universal, and can be run on any system utilizing an Intel (or compatible)
80386 or greater processor up to and including Pentium 3 (and some Pentium 4) processors.
Check-It can detect and provide detailed information about
a motherboard under test, from basic information such as what CPU you have, to more
complex information about your system management bus, DMI, PCI structure, etc.
- Delivered on a single floppy disk
- Includes in-depth electronic user's guide
- Low level system analysis and testing
- Detailed hardware reports
In addition to Motherboard hardware Post Code Testing,
Motherboards connected to the MBTF can be further tested using the following Check-It test
routines:
- Memory Testing - Run up to 17 different test algorithms
provided
- USB Testing - Detects each USB port and tests the host controller
- Port Testiing - Serial & parallel ports are automatically detected & internally
tested (loopback plugs are provided for external testing)
- DMA Testing - Checks DMA controller
- Cache Testing - Calculates and tests L2 cache timing
- CMOS Testing - Performs checksum test, R/W test, and CMOS clock test
- CPU Testing - Tests flag, general purpose and special CPU registers
- BCM Diagnostics Pro Software
BCM Diatnostics Pro, version 2.30 is a Windows based PC
diagnostic software product that can be used to rigorously troubleshoot hardware, produce
a comprehensive report on its configuration, stress test it, burn-in test a newly
assembled or repaired PC, etc. It requires a 80486 or higher 100% IBM AT compatible
PC and a Windows 95 or later Operating System.
BCM Diagnostics can be used to test Motherboards connected
to the MBTF as well as drives and plug-in cards connected to the PTF Motherboard.
BCM Diagnostic Pro Modules:
- System information (System summary, bus, CPU, disk, BIOS,
DMI, PCI, PNP, Network, etc.)
- DMI information (DMI data browser, DMI 2.0, SMBIOS 2.1+)
- INI information (config.sys, autoexec.bat, win ini, system ini, protocol ini)
- CPU tests (CPU ID, speed, feature, integrity tests)
- Memory Test (memory size, heap allocation, integrity tests)
- Video Test (AVI information, MPEG information, functional tests)
- Graphics Test (vesa bios, mode table, directdraw, integrity and functional tests)
- Hard Disk Test (disk size, usage, parameters and integrity tests)
- Floppy Disk Test (Diskette size, usage, parameters and integrity tests)
- Modem Test (Modem information, AT command test, connection test)
- CD-ROM Test (IDE drive parameters, speed, integrity tests)
- System Health Monitor (System resource usage, voltage, temperature etc.)
- Stress Test (Sequential and concurrent test)
- Benchmark Test (CD-ROM, CPU, memory, disk, grapahics)
- Clean Up Utility (remove invalid program links and unwanted files)
- TCP Tool (Tune-up internet connection speed, ping and trace utilities)
- SCSI Tool (Device information, device inquiry, request sense, media capacity,
lock/unlock)
- USB Tool (Device information, connection hierarchy)
- Report Wizard (Report and print test information and results)

- CUSTOM ENCLOSURE
The enclosure chosen to house the Station is
referred to as a "case," but only in the broadest sense of the term. The
phrase "Aluminum Cube Computer Chassis Enclosure" better describes this
exceptionally well designed and superbly fabricated "case." The enclosure
is designed and manufactured by Mountain Mods and has been modified to accommodate the
requirements of the YavaCo Test and Training Station.
|
The layout/relative positions of the three internal drive
bays and the motherboard tray provide ample room for proper power/data cable routing and
component access. You'll never have to fight through a "rat's nest" of
wiring to access internal components.
The top and rear panels can be removed in less than 30
seconds. With these panels and the hinged front motherboard access door removed,
technicians (or students) have high visibility of and easy access to all internal test
station components.
With ALL components installed in the enclosure, the Test
Station only weighs 40 lbs. and can be easily located on a technician's workbench or an
instructor's demo table.
With its capacity for 10 ea. 5.25" devices and 9 ea.
hard drives, the enclosure is designed to accomodate future expansion and/or custom
component installation requirements.
The hinged acrylic motherboard access door (removable)
provides for easy insertion of PTF motherboard plug-in cards.
