- Why don't you provide a
motherboard with the Station?
Some users would
want a socket 478 board, while others would prefer a socket 775 board. Also, users
will want to determine the type and quantity of card slots. (A Motherboard is
provided with our turnkey version.)
- Why don't you provide drives for the kit and assembled versions of the Station?
Many schools
and repair facilities have good used drives available which will meet the requirements of
the Station. Remember, for test and training purposes, few applications will be
installed on these drives and you don't need 80 GB hard drives to load and run an
operating system. However, for those who want to "plug it in and go!" we
offer a turnkey version in which all drives are installed and tested.
- Why don't you provide Power
Supply Units for the kit version of the Station?
The kit version of the Station is intended for our "Do It Yourself"
customers who probably have power supplies and want to take advantage of the reduced cost
of the kit version of the Station.
- How is the primary PTF
motherboard IDE controller configured?
- The primary master connector will be connected
to an IDE device under test.
- The primary slave connector will be connected to the PTF CD-R (or CD-RW) drive.
- How do I configure my Boot Sequence?
You must configure your BIOS on the
PTF motherboard to boot
from SATA drives before attempting to boot from an IDE drive. (The hard drive switch
controller only applies power to the SATA drive selected.)
- Suppose I want the capability to
select more than 2 or 3 operating systems to boot from?
The Station is designed to
accommodate expansions which would provide the capability to boot from up to seven hard
drives. Refer to the Options section of the ordering page.
- Can you provide for
switching of IDE drives instead of SATA drives?
Yes, provided the motherboard is equipped with both
prrimary and secondary IDE connectors. See the Options section of the ordering page.
